Short answer: Website design prices in Uganda run from about UGX 600,000 for a small brochure site to around UGX 3,000,000 for most business builds. Large custom and e-commerce projects run past 15,000,000, though most businesses never need one. We charge UGX 740,000 for five pages, UGX 1,480,000 for seven, and from UGX 2,590,000 for twelve or more with booking or e-commerce. Those cover 26, 52 and 104 hours of work. The page count and the hours are what move the number, and most quotes never tell you either.
You asked three companies what a website costs. You got three numbers and no way to compare them.
One said 900,000. Another said 3.5 million. The third said it depends. None of them told you how many pages that buys, who writes the words, or how many hours of work sit behind the figure.
This page gives you the real website design prices in Uganda, what moves a price inside that range, and what our own work costs.
What does a website cost in Uganda?
Website design prices in Uganda fall into three published brackets. We checked six agency pricing pages to build this.
| What you are buying | Typical Uganda range | What we charge |
|---|---|---|
| Small brochure site, about 5 pages | 600,000 to 900,000 | UGX 740,000 |
| Business site with service pages | 1,200,000 to 1,900,000 | UGX 1,480,000 |
| Booking or e-commerce build | 3,200,000 to 15,000,000 | from UGX 2,590,000 |
We’re not the cheapest and we don’t try to be. On the top tier we sit below the market, because our hours are the same rate at every level rather than climbing with complexity.
One warning when you compare website design prices in Uganda. Some agencies quote in dollars, so their shilling price moves with the rate. Ours are set in shillings against the Bank of Uganda rate and reviewed each quarter, so the number you are quoted is the number you pay.
Why does the same website cost 800,000 or 12,000,000?
Five things move the price. Everything else is detail.
Page count. Every page needs a layout, copy, images and internal links. Five pages is a weekend of structure. Thirty is a month.
Who writes the words. This is the biggest hidden swing. If you supply copy, the build is faster and cheaper. If the agency writes it, add real hours. Most Ugandan quotes assume you will supply it and never say so, which is why so many sites sit half-built for months.
Whether money changes hands on the site. A checkout or a booking calendar means payment setup, testing and security work. That is the jump from one million to several.
How many revision rounds. Unlimited revisions sound generous. They are priced in somewhere, or the project stalls when goodwill runs out.
What happens after launch. A site handed over with no support costs less on day one and more in month six.
Two quotes for the same restaurant, side by side
A Kampala restaurant asked three companies for a website. Two replied with a number. Here is what those numbers actually contained once we asked.
Quote A, UGX 850,000. Five pages. Client supplies all text and photos. One revision round. Hosting for year one. Domain registered by the developer. No mention of backups. Menu updates quoted separately at 50,000 each.
Quote B, UGX 1,600,000. Seven pages. Agency writes the copy after a menu walkthrough. Two revision rounds. Hosting and domain for year one, then 420,000 a year. Domain in the restaurant’s name. Daily backups. Table booking form connected to WhatsApp.
Quote A looks like it saves 750,000. It does not. The owner writes seven pages of menu and story copy in evenings, waits three months to finish, pays 50,000 a menu change, and cannot move the domain when the developer stops answering.
The two numbers were never comparable. They were answers to different questions, which is why website design prices in Uganda look so scattered when you line them up.
What do 26, 52 and 104 hours actually buy?

No Ugandan pricing page we checked mentions hours. Yet hours are what website design prices in Uganda are actually made of, so here is our breakdown.
26 hours, a five-page site
Roughly six hours on structure and layout, eight writing the five pages, six on build and mobile behaviour, four on technical setup and schema, two on revisions.
That covers a business that needs to exist properly on Google and take enquiries. It doesn’t cover a shop.
52 hours, a seven-page site
The extra 26 hours go into research and conversion, not two more pages. Keyword mapping for every page, copy written around what buyers actually type, conversion paths designed into each layout, full schema, and a second revision round.
This is where a site starts earning rather than existing. It’s the tier most businesses pick.
104 hours, twelve or more pages
Booking or checkout setup, payment and delivery configuration, product or service schema, multi-location local SEO, and a six-month content plan. Testing alone takes longer than a whole five-page build.
Ask any agency this one question. How many hours are in the quote? If they can’t answer, the number was guessed, and a guessed number moves once work starts.
Hours also explain quality. Speed is measurable through Core Web Vitals, and a site built properly for search follows Google Search Essentials. Neither happens in a build with no hours allocated to it.
What a Uganda web quote usually leaves out

The build price is the visible part. Underneath it sits everything that keeps the site running, and that’s where quotes go quiet.
Hosting and domain from year two. Many quotes include the first year and stop there. Year two arrives as a fresh invoice, often 300,000 to 600,000, sometimes from a company you’ve never dealt with.
Backups. Ask whether they are daily, where they are stored, and how fast a restore happens. A site with no backup is one bad plugin update from gone.
Security and updates. WordPress core, themes and plugins all update. Unpatched sites in Uganda get hit through outdated plugins, not clever hacking.
Uptime monitoring. Without it, your site can be down for two days before a customer tells you.
Small edits. Changing a phone number shouldn’t need a quote. Ask how many minutes of edits are included each month.
Everything in that list is included in all three of our packages, from year one onward. Hosting, domain renewal from year two, updates, daily backups, security, uptime monitoring, and 30 minutes of edits each month.
Who owns the site after you pay?

This question costs Ugandan businesses more money than any other. Ask it before you pay a deposit.
Three things need your name on them. The domain, the hosting account, and the site files.
We’ve seen businesses locked out of a domain they paid for because it was registered in the developer’s name. Getting it back means finding a developer who has stopped replying, or starting again on a new address and losing every ranking the old one earned.
A site built on WordPress is portable. The files and the database are yours and any competent developer can take over. A site built on a proprietary builder that only one agency can log into is not portable, whatever the contract says.
Ask for the domain registrar login, the hosting login, and admin access to the site itself. If the answer is that they hold those for you, that’s not ownership. That’s a hostage arrangement with a friendly name.
How to read a quote before you sign
Six questions. Send them by WhatsApp and compare the replies side by side.
- How many pages, listed by name? Not “about 5 pages”. The actual list.
- Who writes the copy? If it’s you, the quote isn’t comparable to one where it is them.
- How many hours? The number that explains the price.
- How many revision rounds, and what counts as one?
- What does year two cost? Hosting, domain, maintenance, all of it.
- Whose name is on the domain?
A quote that answers all six is usually the honest one, even when its number is higher.

What about Wix, templates and free builders?
A fair question when the alternative costs 740,000.
A drag-and-drop builder gets a small business online for around 250,000 a year. For a one-person operation that needs an address and a phone number on the internet, that is a reasonable choice and we’ll say so.
Three things change the maths once you want the site to bring in work.
The subscription never ends. At 250,000 a year, five years is 1,250,000, and at the end you own nothing. Stop paying and the site disappears.
Your time isn’t free. A template site that takes you three weekends of evenings cost you those weekends. If you bill for your time at all, do that sum honestly.
And a template is built to look finished, not to rank. Page titles, headings, internal links, schema and speed are the parts that decide whether you appear when someone searches. Templates ship them generic, because they are built for every business at once.
The honest rule: if the site is a business card, use a builder. If it needs to bring in customers, pay for the hours.
What does the money come back as?
Website design prices in Uganda only mean something next to what the site returns.
Take a Growth build at 1,480,000. If your average job is worth 400,000, the site pays for itself at four jobs. Not four a month. Four in total.
That’s the calculation to run before you compare agencies. A 900,000 site that never appears in search costs you more than a 1,480,000 site that brings in a customer a week, because there’s no return at all to divide into.
Real numbers from a client of ours, Easy Power Co. Ltd: their site went from 500 to 1,200 or more Google clicks in a 28 day window. Those are clicks from people searching for what they sell.
Ask any agency for a figure like that from a live client before you sign. If they only show screenshots of designs, they build sites. They don’t build results.
Frequently asked questions
How much does a website cost in Uganda?
Website design prices in Uganda run from about UGX 600,000 for a five-page brochure site to around UGX 3,000,000 for most business builds. Large custom and e-commerce projects run past 15,000,000, though few businesses need one. Small and medium businesses usually land between UGX 740,000 and UGX 2,590,000. The page count, who writes the copy, and whether the site takes payments are what move the number.
Why is one quote 900,000 and another 3,500,000 for the same website?
They are almost never the same website. The gap is usually page count, whether the agency writes the copy or you do, how many revision rounds are included, and what happens after launch. Ask both agencies how many hours are in the quote and the difference explains itself.
What is included in a website design price in Uganda?
What you get varies more than the price itself. Website design prices in Uganda usually cover design, build, copywriting, mobile layout, basic SEO setup, hosting, a domain, backups, security updates and a support window. Many Ugandan quotes cover the first year of hosting only, then invoice separately from year two.
Do I own the website after I pay for it?
You should own the domain, the hosting account and the site files. Ask for all three logins in your own name before paying a deposit. If the developer registers the domain under their own details, you cannot move the site without their cooperation.
How long does a website take to build in Uganda?
A five-page site takes about two to three weeks, a seven-page site four to six weeks, and a larger booking or e-commerce build eight to twelve weeks. The most common delay is waiting for content from the client, which is why we write the copy on every package.
Is a cheap website worth it?
It depends what you need. If you need an address on the internet, a builder subscription at around 250,000 a year is fine. If you need the site to bring in customers, a cheap build that never appears in search costs more, because there is no return to divide the price into.
Tell us how many pages you need and what the site has to do. We will send website design prices in Uganda quoted in shillings, the hours behind each one, and what year two costs. No call needed first.
