Web Design · Uganda & East Africa

A website that sits there is an expense, not an asset.

Most sites in Uganda are built to look good, handed over, and then left alone. We build fast WordPress sites with SEO and AI visibility in the structure from day one, on a platform you own outright, so yours brings in customers instead of waiting for them.

Built on WordPress, handed over in full. If you ever want to leave, you take everything with you.

What does a business website in Uganda cost, and what should it include?

Price is driven by scope, not by design: a five-page site for a local service business is not the same job as a thirty-page site with online booking or e-commerce. Whatever the size, a website built properly in 2026 should include mobile-first design, fast loading on mobile data, SEO structure and schema from day one, Analytics and Search Console, and full ownership of the domain, hosting and code. We quote a fixed price up front, free, before you commit to anything.

  • Timeline: typically 3–5 weeks from brief to launch
  • Platform: WordPress, no proprietary builder lock-in
  • Always included: SEO structure, schema, Analytics, Search Console
  • You own: the domain, the hosting account, the site and the code
  • Quote: fixed and in writing before any work starts
  • You work with: Francis Baguma directly, not a junior
The hard truth

You paid for a website. What you got was a brochure nobody visits.

It looks clean, it loads on your phone, you were proud of it. Months later there have been no calls and no enquiries from Google.
Your designer built it for one person, you, and never asked the question that mattered: will Google find this?
The site was handed over and then the designer vanished. Nobody answers when something breaks.
Somebody else holds your domain, your hosting login, or both, and getting them back is a negotiation.
It was built on a platform you rent. You cannot move it, and you cannot take it with you.
It takes eight seconds to open on mobile data, so most visitors leave before they ever see it.

A website is not a brochure. It is the one salesperson that works while you sleep, but only if it is built to be found, built to load, and built to convert.

What we build

Everything your website needs to rank, load fast and sell

Six things that come as standard, not as line items you have to ask for.

Design & build

A clean, modern site designed around your business and built to convert. Every page has a purpose, a clear message and a next step for the visitor. No clutter, no filler pages padding an invoice.

WordPress development

Built on WordPress, which powers over 40% of the web. No proprietary builder that holds your site hostage. You can hand it to any developer, anywhere, at any time, and they will know what to do with it.

Speed optimisation

Visitors leave sites that take more than three seconds, and Google ranks fast sites higher. We optimise images, code and hosting so your site opens quickly on a phone, on mobile data, outside a city.

Mobile-first design

Most of your customers browse on a phone. We design for that screen first and scale up, rather than shrinking a desktop layout and hoping it holds together.

Analytics & Search Console

You cannot improve what you cannot measure. Google Analytics 4 and Search Console are configured and verified at launch, so you can see who visits, where they came from and what they did.

SEO & AI-ready structure

The part other designers skip. Correct heading hierarchy, clean URLs, meta tags and schema built into every page from day one, so Google can rank you and assistants can quote you.

See what that means

Need ongoing support after launch? Maintenance, updates, backups, security and fixes are available as a monthly add-on so the site stays fast, safe and online. Ask about it in your quote.

The difference that costs nothing extra

A beautiful site that cannot be found is a very expensive brochure

Most web designers hand over a site and leave the finding to somebody else. By then the damage is structural: the headings are decorative, the URLs are messy, there is no schema, and retrofitting it costs more than building it right did.

We build the foundation in from the first line, at no extra cost, because it is not an add-on. It is the difference between a site that earns and a site that sits.

  • Structure Google can read

One H1 per page, a real heading hierarchy, clean descriptive URLs, internal links that make sense, and an XML sitemap submitted at launch.

  • Schema assistants can quote

LocalBusiness, Organization, Service and FAQ schema so ChatGPT, Perplexity and Google’s AI Overviews can state who you are, what you sell and where you operate.

  • Crawlers that are not blocked

We check GPTBot, ClaudeBot and PerplexityBot are allowed in robots.txt. Most sites we audit block them by accident and never find out.

Typical Uganda build
Built the way we build

Retrofitting is the expensive path. Fixing structure, URLs and schema on a finished site usually costs more than building it correctly did, because the content has to be rewritten around it.

Built for this market, not copied from a template

Designed for how Uganda actually browses

A site built for fast office wifi in another country will quietly fail here. These are the constraints we design around.

The phone is the primary screen

Mobile-first is not a feature we tick off here, it is the whole job. Your customer is standing in a shop with one hand on a phone. If the menu is fiddly or the number is not tappable, they are gone.

Page weight is a cost your customer pays

On a bundle, every unnecessary megabyte is money out of your visitor’s pocket. Most sites here ship huge uncompressed images without anyone noticing. We compress, resize and lazy-load so your site is cheap to open.

It has to open on a weak signal

Your customers are not all on fibre in Kololo. We test on throttled connections, because a site that only performs on good wifi is a site that fails outside the city.

WhatsApp is the contact channel

People here do not fill in forms and wait two days for an email. We put click-to-chat where the intent is highest, pre-filled with context, so an enquiry takes one tap and lands where you actually reply.

Prices and payment, stated plainly

Buyers here want to know what something costs and how they can pay before they call. We build pricing and payment information into the page rather than hiding it behind “contact us for details”.

Written in the words people search

Your customers search in a mix of English and local phrasing, and they add the town. We write the pages around what is actually typed here, not around what reads well in a template written abroad.

No hostages

You own all of it. That should not be a selling point, but here we are.

The most common story we hear is not a bad design. It is a business that cannot get its own website back.

What is in your name, not ours

  • The domain, registered to your business, with the login handed to you
  • The hosting account, in your name and billed to you, not resold through us
  • The website and its code, on standard WordPress any developer can work on
  • Your Google Analytics and Search Console properties, owned by your email
  • Your Google Business Profile, with you as the primary owner
  • A full backup and a walkthrough of how to edit your own content

What we will never do

  • Register your domain in our name so that leaving becomes a negotiation
  • Build on a proprietary platform you can only ever rent from us
  • Hold the hosting or admin logins back “for safekeeping”
  • Charge you to export or move your own content elsewhere
If you ever want to leave, you take the domain, the hosting, the site and the data with you. That is the deal, in writing, from day one.
Why WordPress

Can I not just use Wix or Squarespace?

You can, and plenty of businesses start there. This is what they find out in year two.

We are not against hosted builders for a weekend project or a landing page to test an idea. But if the plan is to rank on Google and still own the asset in five years, WordPress is the honest answer.

Proof it works

Design and SEO Built Together, Not Bolted On Afterwards.

Easy Power Company already had a website, and it looked fine. It was still invisible on Google, pulling around 500 visits a period, mostly from people who already knew the brand.

The problem was never how the site looked. It was how it was built: slow pages, the wrong structure, no SEO foundation underneath any of it. We fixed the foundation, the speed and the content, then let Google find it.

What a website costs, in writing

Most web design quotes in Uganda arrive as one number with nothing behind it, so you can’t tell what you are paying for or what has been left out. Here are the prices, the page counts and the hours behind each one. We write the words on every package, so your site doesn’t sit half-built waiting on content you never find time to send.

  • All copy written for you

These are one-time build prices. Growth SEO on our SEO pricing is also $400, but that one is monthly and it buys a different service. We quote in dollars because hosting, domains and the tools these sites are built on all bill in dollars, so a shilling price would move every time the rate does. You can pay in shillings at the day’s rate. The number you agree is the number you pay.

Before you enquire

We are not the right builder for every project

We would rather say so now than take a deposit and disappoint you in week three.

This is for you if

  • You want the site to bring in customers, not just to exist
  • You are tired of a site that looks fine and produces nothing
  • You want to own the domain, the hosting and the code outright
  • You can give us your business information and feedback within a reasonable window
  • You are based in Uganda or East Africa, or selling into those markets

This is not for you if

  • You need it live this week. A site worth having takes three to five weeks
  • You want the cheapest possible site and nothing else matters
  • You want a design copied pixel for pixel from another business
  • Your existing site already ranks and converts well. Then you need SEO, not a rebuild
Common questions

Web design questions, answered honestly

Still unsure? Ask directly. Francis answers these personally, usually the same day.

I already have a website. Do I need a new one?

Maybe not. The real question is whether it is working: is it ranking on Google, and is it bringing you enquiries? If yes, keep it. If it just sits there, the cause is usually how it was built. Start with a free review and we will tell you honestly whether you need a rebuild or just fixes, even when the answer costs us the job.

How much does a website cost in Uganda?

Three packages cover most projects. Launch is $200 for a five-page site. Growth is $400 for seven pages and is the one most businesses choose. Authority starts at $3,000 for twelve or more pages with booking or e-commerce. Every package includes the copywriting, hosting, daily backups and security. If your job sits outside those three, you get one clear fixed quote in writing, free and with no obligation, before any work starts.

How long does it take to build a website?

Most business websites take 3 to 5 weeks from brief to launch, depending on size and how quickly we receive your content and feedback. Content is usually the thing that decides the timeline. You get a clear date range in your quote.

Will my website show up on Google?

That is exactly why we build the way we do. Every site is SEO-ready from day one: correct structure, fast loading, schema in place, and submitted to Google at launch. That is the foundation, not a guarantee of position 1. If you want to actively climb for competitive keywords, that is ongoing SEO work on top.

Do you build the site or do I have to?

We build everything. You provide your business information, photos and feedback. We handle the design, the development, the setup and the launch. You stay in control of the direction while we do the technical work.

Who owns the domain, the hosting and the website?

You do, all of it. The domain is registered in your business name, the hosting account is in your name, and the site is standard WordPress that any developer can pick up. Every login is handed to you at launch along with a full backup. If you ever want to leave, you take everything with you and we will help with the move.

Can I edit the site myself after launch?

Yes. We build on WordPress specifically so you can update text, images, prices and posts without a developer. At handover you get a walkthrough of the parts you are most likely to change. If you would rather not touch it at all, maintenance is available as a monthly add-on.

Will it load properly on mobile data and a weak connection?

That is designed in rather than hoped for. Images are compressed and resized, code is kept lean, and we test on throttled connections, not just office wifi. Page weight matters here because your visitor is paying for every megabyte out of a data bundle.

Do you build online shops and booking systems?

Yes, on WooCommerce for shops and a booking system where appointments are the business. These are scoped case by case because payment methods, delivery rules and stock handling differ per business. We will tell you plainly if a simpler setup would serve you better for now.

Ready for a website that brings you business instead of sitting there?

Tell us what you need and we will send back a fixed quote, plus an honest view of whether a rebuild is even the right call for you.

No obligation and no sales pitch. Francis personally reviews what you need and sends an honest quote within 24 hours.
